The three core members of B-actif, Alain, Maxime and Oliver are all from farming and growing backgrounds. We have all enjoyed a long and facinating work/pleasure relationship with nature, which, over the years, has resulted in an extensive collective knowledge of  plants, soils and the general “workings” of the natural environment.
In 1995, on learning that more than half  the harmful chemical contaminants found in French ground-water reserves are directly tracable to the home gardener and the barrage of insecticides, herbicides and fertilisers available to him or her, we decided it was time for an alternative.
Our philosophy is to use the incredible properties of certain plants for the nourishment and care of other plants and their soil environments. Starting with one hectare of  comfrey on our organic farm in Brittany,B-actif is today an innovative commercial company offering a unique range of safe and effective gardening and garden-maintenance products based entirely on plants and plant extracts. Using specially formulated blends of comfrey (Bocking 14), various seaweeds, nettle, alfalfa and sugarbeet, to name a few, our products are totally organic and provide the modern gardener with all the nutrients and elements essential for healthy gardens, fruit and vegetable patches, house plants and lawns.
Not only are B-actif products 100% assimilable and bio-degradable, but also completely free of synthetic chemicals and abbatoir by-products like blood and bone - common ingredients in plant-care products which are facing increasing restriction since the outbreaks of bird-flu and foot-and-mouth.
Another main objective of ours was to find a way of conquering the characteristic stench often associated with nettle and comfrey infusions. This we have achieved using the latest in filtering technology and an
extraction technique which avoids the fermentation stage.  Both our pelleted formulas and liquid concentrates are thus stablilised and, for the first time ever, non-smelly and usable indoors!
B-actif has always worked closely with a number farmers, growers, municipalities, gardeners and various other experts-in-the-field. With their help and input we are constantly reviewing and updating our production and manufacturing processes, improving our product range and trial proceedures whilst reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources.
